A pacemaker evaluation is a test that is performed to check the function of your pacemaker. This test is important to make sure that your pacemaker is working properly and providing you with the best possible treatment.

What can you expect during the test?

A pacemaker evaluation usually takes place in an outpatient setting. You will be asked to remove any clothing or jewelry that may interfere with the test. You will be given a gown to wear during the test.

You will be asked to lie down on an exam table. The doctor will place leads (wires) on your chest. These leads will be attached to a pacemaker tester. The tester will send electrical signals to your pacemaker. The pacemaker will then send electrical signals back to the tester.

The test usually takes about 30 minutes to an hour.

How to prepare for a pacemaker evaluation?

You should wear comfortable clothing to the test. You should also avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes before the test.

After the test

After the test, you can resume your normal activities. You do not need to take any special precautions.
